FVA SUPPORTED SAVING GROUP WITH VLS KITS

FVA is implementing Local Rights Program and POWER Project in Ruheru Sector, Nyaruguru District in Partnership with ActionAid Rwanda. Local Rights Program in The ActionAid vehicle through which it channeled it development transformation.

To ensure in order sustainability of RUHE LRP activities through motivation of parents of children under sponsorship and for better integration of program and projects, 8 new groups of mothers of children under sponsorship were formed and 240 women reached and equipped VLS skills.

With the kits and guidance provided to the new groups, will serve to effectively conduct the saving and lending activities , this will help them to increase their knowledge with financial literacy and an important aspect is the spirit of saving and lending which will enable them to be confident to work with financial institutions. This activity responding on one of the Program Priorities : Address all structural causes of violence of women and girls and secure women’s economic justice.

Saving and lending groups Impact

Voluntary saving and lending has becoming an effective approach of developing FVA targeted group of people where it have become key for the development of women smallholder farmer. Two weeks ago 3 groups from Uwumusebeya cell, Ruheru sector through their shared out and women have been able to buy 120 health insurances which impacted 580 family members, they have been able to buy 69 goats,8 mattresses (dusasirane )and a plot of 50a.

These achievements were due to the capacity building provided with different items such as trainings on financial literacy, kits to support them to conduct VSL activity and monitoring visits of field staffs to guide them to reach their goal.
