USAID Isuku Iwacu /SNV

FVA is implementing Isuku Iwacu project which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through SNV RWANDA to improve household sanitation in Rwanda.
The project aims to improve access to and encourage correct, consistent use of household sanitation and hygiene facilities to decrease childhood stunting and support the Government of Rwanda’s sanitation work. Isuku Iwacu is acting as a market facilitator to help Rwandans gain sustainable access to affordable sanitation and hygiene, and ensure that residents of target districts live in open-defecation free (ODF) environments. Isuku Iwacu will improve access to suitable sanitation options for Rwandans living in the lowest poverty quintiles
FVA is responsible for facilitating and supporting 19,500 households to improve or construct new latrines in Nyabihu District using one or a combination of the following :
o Households acquiring sanitation loans with any financial institution (under AMIR).
o Households self-financing
o Community involvement using existing platforms such as Amasibo or umuganda
